Sims 1 Collection doesn’t work on Vista?

I haven't played the Sims 1 Complete Collection in a while, but when I recently started it up on my computer (Windows Vista) it looks as if it's about to start, but when it goes to the black screen there's a subtle flash and then it shuts down saying that an error ocurred. I have tried going into properties on the shortcut and running compatibility with every single version of windows as well as running as administrator.I've basically done everything short of uninstalling.Somebody help me? I know it's not too important, but I love my Sims…
